Collections


Books - More than 100,000 books covering non-fiction, biographies, fiction, mystery, sci-fi and more, covering all literature from classics to current best sellers.

Audiobooks - About 4,000 recorded books in either CD or MP3 (Playaway) format covering popular fiction authors and all subjects in non-fiction. Audio language learning materials are in this collection.

Videos - Over 17,000 feature films and popular TV shows in DVD format and over 1,500 in Blu-Ray.  Also includes thousands of non-fiction films and documentaries and hundreds of foreign films.  

Music - Nearly 4,000 music CDs covering every style from classical to folk to rock to world music. 

Magazines/Newspapers - Subscriptions to 300 magazines and a limited number of newspapers such as the New York Times, Wall Street Journal and Los Angeles Times.  Online magazines available at RBdigital.

e-books/e-audiobooks - Access thousands of digital books from Overdrive which can be downloaded and read or listened to on phones, tablets, laptops or PCs.

Streaming Videos - Kanopy provides more than 30,000 of the world’s best films, including award-winning documentaries, rare titles, film festival favorites, indie and classic films.

Purchase Suggestions - If the Library doesn't have a new book or video you want, you can call the Reference desk at 619-522-2484 and suggest that we purchase it.   

Interlibrary Loan - For books that are more than two years old, the Library can usually borrow a copy from another library for you.  Ask at the Reference desk to see if this is an option for you.  Interlibrary loan materials have a minimum fee of $5 to cover shipping costs.

Programs/Workshops
The Library offers regular programs on a variety of literary and social topics, as well as workshops on how to use Library software apps and equipment in our Digital Media Lab.  Check the Library calendar for the current program schedule.

Book Clubs
The Library has regular book clubs that meet monthly. These include the Saturday Book Club, Mystery Book Club and Spoilers Book Club.  Check the Library calendar for the current titles being read. There is also an online Dear Reader book club that covers all genres.

Computers & Internet Access
The Library provides free public Internet access on ten computers in the Adult Services reference area, three computers in the Teen area, and four computers in the Children's room. You are limited to two hours per day on the public computers.  In addition, there is wireless access throughout the building with no password or time limits on use.  

In addition to Internet computers, the Library also has two computers dedicated to genealogy research, one for word processing and one to view and save digital images from our microfilm collection. These are in the Adult reference area.  

Digital Media Lab
The Library's Digital Media Lab (DML) is available for public reservations up to 4 hours per day.  The DML has a PC and Mac computer to use for scanning, printing and creating documents, posters, slides, videos, audio files and more.  The DML has a scanner/copier, a large flatbed scanner, a poster printer, as well as a 3-D printer.  See our Room Reservation page for more details.
