Historic Preservation Program Input Sought
City Subcommittee to Host Two Public Forums



CORONADO, CA (May 8, 2018) – A City Council subcommittee tasked with reviewing Coronado’s historic property designation process is asking the community for input at two planned public forums, May 22 and May 30.

The Council appointed Council members Carrie Downey and Mike Donovan in April to a subcommittee to review the city’s Historic Preservation Program. The subcommittee was asked to perform a broad review of the program, which has been incorporated into the General Plan to develop awareness of the City's historic resources and encourage their retention.

The subcommittee will review the application and appeal processes; criteria for historic designation; fees; demolition requests; and Mills Act procedure. Downey and Donovan will include public input as they develop recommendations for potential improvements for future Council consideration with the goal of involving more people in the program.

To facilitate resident feedback, two public forums in the Coronado Public Library Winn Room are scheduled for:
Tuesday, May 22 6 to 7:30 p.m.
Wednesday, May 30 9 to 10:30 a.m.

After an overview of the subcommittee’s efforts to date, each meeting will be open for comments and questions. Comment sheets also will be provided for written submittals.
